My old tent had a good run, but after using it for almost a decade, it was time to buy a new one.

I settled on this 3-season tent, and I have been very pleased with my purchase. The main feature that I demanded of whichever tent I would end up buying was that it be freestanding. I hate that a tent won’t stay upright if the pegs aren’t securely in the ground, and this fit the bill.

The tent I pretty easy to set up with 2 people. Alone, it can be a little clunky when putting in the poles since they are connected in an X-pattern, but once that minor speed bump is passed, the rest of the tent goes up very quickly.

Norway

I like that there’s 2 doors and vestibules on both sides. The second door was actually super helpful in Norway when a cow had snuck up on our tent. When I opened one door to find a big bull staring at me at only an arm’s reach away, we slipped out the other door.

The inside is spacious with enough room for 2 people to comfortably sit next to each other. The tent is also designed to pull the walls away towards the poles, so you end up with a bit more headroom.

There is also a window of sorts that can be opened or closed to allow for more airflow in the rainfly.

Even with the window closed, though, one of my friends complained that it was too drafty and cold. The main part of the tent does have some big screens for walls, and it does enable a good amount of airflow. I personally didn’t mind the air movement, as it helped keep the tent from getting too hot for me, and it helped reduce moisture buildup. I didn’t find it too cold, but everyone has their preference.

The Alps

I have used this tent in a few places including the Alps and Norway, and I look forward to using it in even more countries in the near future. Although the tent is a little more expensive than my last tent at about 200 bucks, I still find it worth it and hope to get plenty of use out of it.
