I went to a gaming night at a friend’s place. He had this beer there, and I thought it was funny to see an Iron Maiden beer. Upon asking where he got it at, he told me that he simply got it from the Kiosk down the street. I picked one up for myself, although it was a little on the expensive side since it was an import.
I really wanted it to start blasting Iron Maiden music when I opened the bottle, like one of those birthday cards. Alas, that did not happen.
I actually first wrote this review a few years ago, but I forgot to take a picture, so this document has just been sitting on my computer forever. I went out of my way to buy another one, and it seems that the art changed. I prefer the old lid (which I did take a photo of), but the bottle otherwise was similar.
The below notes were my original impression, and after drinking it a second time after many years, my opinion hasn’t changed.
Sight: A golden/amber that had a slight head that dissipated quickly. Translucent with minor bubbles, it looked like any normal ale.
Smell: It smelled slightly bitter, but with a touch of citrus to it, which goes along with its slightly orange color. It had a light hoppy aroma to it as well.
Taste: The bottle claims it to be hoppy, but I was just not getting it. I definitely got a malty tone to it though (which is also advertised on the bottle). Otherwise, it has a typical bitterness to it, but it is accompanied by a nice tone of citrus.

Overall
I have always been hesitant about beers modeled after some other franchise or something to that effect, but this actually isn’t so bad. I wished there was some Iron Maiden that played when you opened it, but I feel that would add too much to the cost of a bottle (super wishful thinking). In all seriousness, it was actually a pretty surprisingly good beer, but I definitely paid more than its worth. I think it was 3 or 4 times as much as a normal beer, so for that price point, I definitely wouldn’t buy it, but if it was priced a little more in the average range, it would be a beer that I would not hesitate to buy more often.
