Beerlao Lager Review

Brewery: Lao Brewery Co
Brewery Location: Vientiane, Laos
Alcohol: 5%

You can find this beer fairly easily throughout Indochina. It is one of the better beers in the entire area, in my opinion, and I enjoyed it enough that I partially decided to go all the way to Vientiane just to visit the brewery, which didn’t work out because it was closed on the weekend. Oh well. Maybe next time.

Beerlao has a few other varieties, too, like the White (Weizen), dark, and extra hoppy ones. I found them all to be good, and you should try them if you get the chance!

Sight: It looks like a pretty basic lager. I failed to take a beer with some in the glass, but it was golden-amber, transparent, and had a fair amount of head on top.

Smell: Mild, but refreshing aroma of mild hops.

Taste: What it lacked in presentation, it more than made up for in taste. It wasn’t out of the ordinary, but it was an exceptionally smooth lager with a pleasant bitterness that I would enjoy any time of the year.

Overall

One of the better lagers I’ve had in a long time. I wish it was easier to get outside of Thailand, Laos, and Vietnam.
