Madrid

Earlier this year, a friend and I went to Madrid. We both live in different areas, so we just met up at the airport. Since I got there before him, I just waited at the airport for an hour or so until he arrived, and then we went into the city.

The Mercado de San Miguel, where all the tapas one can dream of are.

Later that evening, the hostel hosted a dinner and we then went out to a few bars with some of the other guests.

We didn’t actually do anything too remarkable. It was rather just a chill weekend of walking around and checking out the city. And a lot of tapas! The tapas were great. I still have a recipe for Spanish Tortilla that I want to try someday soon.

The bathroom…

Soo, the bathrooms were not very clearly marked in the hostel. The women’s bathroom is pretty much in the center of the hallway. I thought it was the only bathroom, and I was using it for a couple of days. The thing is, nobody in the bathroom really said anything until the last day, when someone else in there made a very obvious and exaggerated show of going to the door and looking at it.

After I left, I took a look at the sign on the door under the poor lighting and finally noticed that it was the silhouette of a female head. I then searched and found the men’s bathroom tucked around a corner. I also wasn’t the only guy to have used the wrong bathroom, I discovered. And that’s how I accidentally creeped out all the women on my floor in the hostel for 2 days…

The last day, we just did some more walking around.

If you don’t know what that is, you need to watch the follow video now:

As the day came to an end, we both made our way to the airport and flew back to our respective cities. It was just a chill weekend, but it was a fun one! As of yet, Madrid is the only city I have been to in Spain, and I would like to return some day.
