Chicago: Xtreme Trampolines and Shedd Aquarium

Again, in line with my previous posts, these are just a couple of the more significant activities I did while I was living in Chicago.

One of the places my friends and I liked to go to if we had the opportunity was Xtreme trampolines, which was an indoor trampoline park. I am 90% sure that was the name of the location, but I can’t seem to find it anymore. Perhaps they went out of business or changed locations?

In any case, the warehouse-sized building had a few different areas with trampolines to jump on. Additionally, there was a foam pit which was filled with big cubes of foam that you could jump into without getting hurt. They also had a dodgeball arena which was cool because it too was situated on a series of trampolines so you had to run and jump while you tried to hit the opponents and avoid getting hit yourself.

We went there many times, but it was most fun when they first opened. As time went on, they got more strict with the rules and while I understand it was all in the name of safety, it did make things less exciting.

Another place I went to was the Shedd Aquarium. The Shedd Aquarium is surprisingly larger than one would expect from the outside. As such, I actually took a ton of pictures, but there’s no point in showing them all since most of them didn’t turn out so well anyway (no flash in the aquarium led to a lot of blurry photos). Here are just some of the nicer ones.

The jellyfish in particular were gorgeous and we spent a good while there just watching them.

We also happened to run across another neat temporary art exhibit in the Millennium Park after we left the Shedd Aquarium.

And that pretty much marks the end of my stay in Chicago. I of course did other things than what I posted over the past few weeks, but these were some of the highlights. There were countless other times my friends and I simply wandered around downtown, played hackey sack in open squares, and waltzed around malls, among other activities, but there’s no need to list all the minor things I did.

I very much enjoyed the almost 3 years I lived in Chicago. I met some amazing people, I had some great experiences, and I learned a lot. After doing online classes for a while, though, it was time to move to Laramie, Wyoming where I would then later finish my bachelor’s degree.
