Tuatara Aotearoa Pale Ale Review

Brewery: Tuatara Brewing Co.

Brewery Location: Wellington, New Zealand

Alcohol: 5.8%

This is one of the beers I got for Christmas while in New Zealand.

I would like to draw attention to the scaled bottle with a spine going down it. Tuatara is a type of lizard from New Zealand, and they obviously incorporated that in the bottle design. Continue reading

Beerlao Lager Review

Brewery: Lao Brewery Co
Brewery Location: Vientiane, Laos
Alcohol: 5%

You can find this beer fairly easily throughout Indochina. It is one of the better beers in the entire area, in my opinion, and I enjoyed it enough that I partially decided to go all the way to Vientiane just to visit the brewery, which didn’t work out because it was closed on the weekend. Oh well. Maybe next time.

Beerlao has a few other varieties, too, like the White (Weizen), dark, and extra hoppy ones. I found them all to be good, and you should try them if you get the chance!

Tiger Lager Review

Brewery: Heineken Asia Pacific
Brewery Location: Singapore
Alcohol: 5%

This is just the standard beer from Singapore you see all over Asia as well as in other countries. While writing this, I was surprised to discover that this beer is wholly owned by Heineken.

I don’t find the beer particularly remarkable, but it’s still pretty good. I never actually had this while I was in Singapore because all the beers are taxed so heavily there, making beers around 7 dollars each at least. I did drink this in other countries from time to time, though. Continue reading

Windhoek Draught Review

Brewery: Namibia Breweries LTD.

Brewery Location: Windhoek, Namibia

Alcohol: 4%

I had seen this beer in Zambia as well, but I decided to wait until I actually got to Namibia. I find most beer in Africa is… okay. They are all lagers, and most of them are fine. There are a couple I didn’t like, notably Hansa in Namibia and Tusker in Kenya, but the others have been all right. This one I like a bit more, although it doesn’t deviate from a standard lager very much. You can get it in a bottle or can (which basically means it’s not really a draft, but whatever), and I liked the canned version more. Continue reading

Trooper Ale Review

Brewery: Robinsons Brewery
Country of origin: Stockport, UK
Alcohol: 4.7%

I went to a gaming night at a friend’s place. He had this beer there, and I thought it was funny to see an Iron Maiden beer. Upon asking where he got it at, he told me that he simply got it from the Kiosk down the street. I picked one up for myself, although it was a little on the expensive side since it was an import.

I really wanted it to start blasting Iron Maiden music when I opened the bottle, like one of those birthday cards. Alas, that did not happen. Continue reading

Techno Cybertronic Double IPA Review

Brewery: Birrificio Indipendente Elav
Brewery Location: Comun Nuovo, Italy
Alcohol: 9.5%

This was just a beer I got a while back while I was waiting in an airport for my flight. The logo caught my eye, and since I like IPAs, I figured I would give it a shot. Continue reading

Dead Rabbit double IPA Review

Brewery: MONYO Brewing Co.

Brewery Location: Budapest, Hungary

Alcohol: 9.5%

This was one of the beers I had my first night in Budapest. It was a strong one, and it didn’t take too many more beers after this one before we were all feeling it.

Camden Pale Ale Review

Brewery: Camden Town Brewery

Brewery Location: Ponders End, England

Alcohol: 4%

I ordered this while I was in the Dublin Castle Bar in Camden. I found the bar by chance and stuck around to watch some live music. While enjoying the show, I also enjoyed a few beers, including this one.

Crafty Dan 13 Guns Review

Brewery: Thwaites

Brewery Location: Mellor Brook, England

Alcohol: 5.5%

This IPA was one of the beers that I got while my friend and I hung out in a pub in Glasgow, hiding from the rain. I thought it funny that it was a British beer celebrating the USA.

Crazy Mountain Amber Ale Review

Brewery: Crazy Mountain Brewing Company

Brewery Location: Edwards, Colorado

Alcohol: 5.25%

This was just a beer that I got at a bar when I went to Manchester. I didn’t realize it at the time, but it’s actually an American beer. I just really wanted an amber ale, which is why I ordered it.
